- President Muhammadu Buhari in his Eid-el-Kabir message to Nigerians released in Abuja on Sunday, gave the assurance that his administration will fix the economic system . In the speech, the Federal government is operating assiduously to address the state of affairs. But he blamed the financial recession on cumulative outcomes of worldwide financial downturn and failure to devise and keep up with hard times.
- The police have deployed armed undercover operatives in prayer grounds nationwide to frustrate plots by some
terrorists to assault the locations of worship, where Muslim worshippers will pray today to mark the Eid el Kabir. The operatives would complement the efforts of the regular employees that might provide safety on the prayer grounds.
- A report is claiming that the EFCC, which is the antigraft arm in Nigeria has arrested four home servants, which include a driver and a houseboy, whose names have been used to open financial institution money on behalf of wife of former Nigerian president, Mrs Patience Jonathan.
- The Socio-monetary Rights and
responsibility project, SERAP, has implored the United nations to interfere in the alleged constant harassment of the #BringBackOurGirls, BBOG, group, by the Nigerian government, noting that the government is violating the rights of participants to freedom of expression and non violent meeting. that is contained in an assertion through its Senior body of workers , Mr Timothy Adewale.
- A lady suspect under the custody of the
country criminal investigation and Intelligence department, Yaba,
Lagos state, has reportedly gone mad and has been taken to the Federal Neuro-Psychiatric health facility, Yaba, to determine her mental condition. The suspect who became arrested after missing siblings had been traced to her in Ojuwoye market, Mushin had reportedly stripped naked on several occasions, which includes the instances where she took out her mobile phone to give her announcement to the police.
- Team Nigeria’s captain, Lucy Ejike, has gained another gold medal for Nigeria at the continued 2016 Paralympic games in Rio, Brazil. Ejike broke the Paralympic and global file 3 successive times, to win the ladies’s -61kg event in powerlifting.
- Akwa Ibom state Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Akan Okon, has debunked insinuations that his workplace leaked authentic documents to the economic and financial Crimes commission, EFCC, so as to reveal the activities of former Governor, Godswill Akpabio to the EFCC. He stated that he was an appointee under Akpabio’s government and couldn’t have been concerned in such misconduct.
- Government of the university of Ilorin, Kwara state on Sunday stated they had recorded the voluntary withdrawal of one of their students, Jephtaph Abolarin, from the institution. A three hundred-level Sociology pupil, Abolarin, wrote to the university confessing that he cheated throughout his West African Senior college certificate exam, hence he does not want to hold his university education with an unmerited certificates. He said as a born again Christian, it will be unjust and immoral.
-Troops on Sunday, foiled an attacked through a suspected girl suicide bomber who came close to a checkpoint positioned at Kara farm animals market axis, Dikwa, Dikwa local government of Borno state. An announcement by the military spokesman, Col. Sani Usman, stated that the suspect was challenged from afar with the aid of the vigilante on duty, but refused to step back, claiming to be coming from Monguno to see her parents in Dikwa. Troops however, shot and killed her when she wanted to detonate the bomb she was carrying.
