DETAILS OF ADEBOYE'S CONTROVERSIAL SERMON

 

The ongoing annual convention of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, on Tuesday, acquired big publicity, because, the general Overseer of the church, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, in a message on marriage, stirred an extensive debate on social media, with thousands taking to the internet to protest or support his positions on the categories of who a christian man or woman should marry. 
Adeboye, who's fondly known as Daddy G.O. through individuals of his church, told a congregation of bachelors and spinsters at the convention to keep away from marrying individuals with the intention to exploit. Movies of the teachings, which were uploaded on special social media websites, acquired massive ‘share’.

The pastor urged bachelors to shun ladies who could not pray for  a minimum of an hour. He also cautioned them against marrying “lazy” ladies as well as people who couldn't prepare dinner.

The cooking element  particularly caught the attention of feminists. They  protested the pastor’s comment, announcing they are no longer imagined to be confined to kitchens just due to the fact that they are ladies.
Adeboye additionally warned ladies against accepting marriage proposals by “jobless” bachelors. He stated that folks who could not earn money should not marry.


A tweeter user disagreed with the cleric’s opinion, emphasizing that“marriage is more than cooking and prayers”.

Also, Chinye Onwordi, a Twitter user, said that Adeboye’s advice had solved a persisting puzzle in the social media.
“whether Nigerian women conform to cook  after they marry or no longer, Adeboye has spoken the reality no one should shy away from,” he tweeted.
One Ahmed Isah also wrote, “Adeboye, we thank you for ending this long debate. You spoke from a non secular realm, not as a mere mortal.”

As of Tuesday evening, many websites had unveiled online polls with a view to assessing the acceptability of Adeboye’s marriage ‘prescriptions’.

In one of the events, Adeboye counseled, “Marry a prayer warrior! Don’t marry any girl who can't pray for one hour . Don’t marry a girl who's lazy! If she is lazy when she is single, what is going to happen if she is married?”

In another instance, he warned, “Don’t marry a man who has no job. before God gave Adam Eve, he gave him a task. He stated, ‘that is the lawn, keep it.’ So when every body comes to you and say, ‘Sister, the lord says you will be my wife, you'll be the celebrity in my firmament,’ ask him — ‘what's your are you doing for a living?’

“If he tells you he is a contractor, ask him to show you proof of all the contracts he has done.

“Don’t be a fool. If he hasn’t got a consistent means of livelihood, don’t marry him. a man is to provide for the house and not the woman. If he has no income, he should not marry. Folks that do not labour must no longer eat. And if they are qualified to eat, they are not qualified to get married.”

Adeboye trended extensively on social media platforms as the troubles he raised have been scrutinised by way of his fanatics and foes.
Adeboye’s popularity rating, via on-line metrics, soared. He also enjoyed a large Google search, as bloggers dissected hundreds of feedback for catchy headlines for their posts.
