BLACK OUT IN LAGOS






How can a city as important as Lagos, be kept in Darkness.Do you think the Transmission Company of Nigeria is living up to expectation? Read the following story and you will understand what I mean.







The Transmission Company of Nigeria, Lagos Region, has reported that numerous parts of the state will encounter power outage somewhere around 10am  today (Monday).

As indicated by the TCN, the influenced ranges are Ikoyi, Victoria Island, Alagbon, Apapa, Ijora, Surulere, Itire, Oshodi, Mushin; the Nigerian Airforce Base, Shogunle, and their environs.

The organization said in an announcement on Sunday that the interruption of power supply to clients in these areas was to enable the company do 

some repairs on the Akangba 132KV transmission substation.

The Public Relations Officer, TCN, Lagos Region, Mrs. Celestina Osin, said in the announcement, "The purpose behind the arranged blackout is to empower the MBH Contractor complete a vital repair  at the Itire 132KV Transmission Line 1 and the Ojo 132KV Transmission Line 2 from which the zones will expect better power supply to them.


"Amid the period the blackout will last, the 4X90 MVA power transformers and another 150MVA force transformer will be out of administration at the Akangba 132KV substation so as to give a sheltered working space to the laborers. We guarantee to re-establish supply to all the influenced territories when the work is completed.

"We genuinely apologize for the short notice on the blackout and the inconveniences that will be experienced by residents of the affected areas.
