Cross River Governor, Prof. Ben Ayade, the day prior to this, suspended indefinitely, the Commissioner for Water resources, Ntufam Gabe Odu Ojie and the Chief executive officer of Water Board , Dr. Oju Igile for reporting to work behind schedule.
The Governor announced their suspension in the course of his routine but unscheduled tour of Ministries, Departments and corporations (MDAs) to make sure that civil and public servants comply strictly with basic ethics.Talking to newsmen at the premises of the ministry in Calabar, Ayade said it is an act of indiscipline for appointees no longer to be at their duty posts earlier than 9.00am, maintaining that the suspension could function as deterrent to other government personnel, as well as appointees. “that is about 9 o’clock in the morning and the Commissioner for Water resources isn't in the office. The managing director of Water Board isn't also in the office. I can't understand why he isn't in the office. I, consequently, with immediate effect, announce his suspension. After making the pronouncement, Governor Ayade also supervised a group of workers , who signed the time book as of the time of he visited. Accordingly, he directed that erring workers be disciplined according to the rules of the civil service.
