Rivers state governor,Nyesom Wike visits the family of late Captain Elechi Amadi
Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike along with members of the Rivers State Executive Council yesterday, paid a sympathy visit to the family of, Late Captain Elechi Amadi. He expressed that the late writer was a global figure who utilized his artistic skills to shape lives and urged individuals to grasp the precepts of development.He said:
"The Late Captain Elechi Amadi was a blessing to the Aluu people , the Ikwerre ethnic nationality, Rivers State and the whole of Nigeria."Personally, I benefitted from his artistic creations, as I drew lessons from the useful lessons contained in his writings. Commander Elechi Amadi through his works molded the characters of people".
He said the state government will take part effectively in the burial of the late literary icon. He encouraged the general population of the Ikwerre ethnic nationality not to politicize the burial of Captain Elechi Amadi as he was a worldwide figure.
He said:
"We will do our best so that Nigerians will keep on remembering Captain Elechi Amadi as a national icon".
The governor expressed that the late writer was cherished by the whole State. He further stated that, his legacy is engraved in the heart of everyone who came across him or his works.
"We have lost a father and a dedicated patriot. We are tormented, however we should discover reassurance in his accomplishments. To the family, I ask you to stay solid as we partake in your anguish and we will remain by you", Governor Wike said.
The Governor signed the condolence register and collaborated with the elders and clan head of Aluu .
Reacting,one of the children of the late Captain Elechi Amadi, Mr Carl Elechi Amadi expressed gratitude to the Governor for visiting the family at their time of grieve
