FAKE NAVAL OFFICERS IN RIVERS STATE

ELEVEN men suspected to be fake maritime officers have been captured in Rivers State.

The suspects were said to have been parading themselves as naval officers with various positions before they were secured around the Rukpokwu Police checkpoint.

The active Commander NNS Pathfinder, Commodore Sanusi Ibrahim, who unveiled this on Wednesday while giving over the suspects to the Rivers Police Command, clarified that they (suspects) masked as "dealer naval force" with the aim of duping people and a few organizations in the state.

Ibrahim expressed that the Nigerian Air Force had before distinguished the suspects and later captured them.

The Air Force, as per Ibrahim, gave over the fake maritime staff to the Nigerian Navy.

He said, "On June 17, the Air Police of the 97 Special Operations Group, Nigerian Air Force Port Harcourt, captured 11 regular folks around the Rukpokwu police checkpoint parading themselves as maritime staff.

"The Air Force police later gave over the suspects to us (Navy) to empower us to find out in the event that they were genuinely maritime staff, among different points of interest.

"Amid examination, the suspects guaranteed that they were in the dealer naval force , and which further discoveries revealed that the association was invented."
