BULLION VAN DRIVER ESCAPES WITH MONEY


 
How far can people go in being dishonest. Imagine this story of a driver, who was employed to drive a bullion van belonging to a bank. He tried to play a fast one by disappearing with some of the money. Read the story below:

Over N60m from missing bullion van recouped in a Supermarket in Port Harcourt

The Rivers State Police Command, purportedly recouped N60 million out of the N100 million in a bullion van that disappeared on Friday on its way from Aba in Abia State to Rivers State.

The command revealed that  the cash, which was jointly owned by Zenith and Stanbic Banks in the state was recovered on Monday after it was left in a taxi in the premises of a mainstream general store in GRA, Port Harcourt.

The bullion van, was pronounced missing on Friday, and a formal report was supposedly  lodged at Rivers State Police Command, which invoked an investigation

Tending to pressmen yesterday in Port Harcourt, Deputy Police Commissioner, Mr. Uche Anozia, said:

"On July 8, last Friday, we got a report by one Mr. Stanley Ndubuisi of Bankers Warehouse, on  a missing bullion van. It was leased by Zenith Bank and Stanbic Bank, here in Port Harcourt to bring money from Aba.

"Arriving Port Harcourt, it went to Zenith Bank, conveyed the cash belonging to the bank. According to the complainant, by then the driver of the bullion van escaped  with the rest of the cash, belonging to Stanbic bank.

"We got a signal on July 11, that a specific Ford Explorer was stopped at the premises of Everyday Supermarket, situated in GRA and that the vehicle contains sacks suspected to be bank property.

"I promptly dispatched my DC Operations to the range to confirm. Luckily for us, it was found that the sacks in the vehicle was the property of Stanbic Bank on account  the seals on them.

"The sum recouped, by, is SIXTY MILLION NAIRA N60,250,000. The driver that stopped the vehicle there is the driver of Everyday Supermarket. He is on the run now."
