SHOULD THE NYSC SCHEME BE SCRAPPED?

The NYSC plan was made in an offer to reproduce, accommodate and revamp the nation after the Nigerian Civil war. The terrible precursors in our national history offered force to the foundation of the National Youth Service Corps by declaration No.24 of 22nd May 1973 which expressed that the "NYSC is being built up with a perspective to the best possible support and advancement of normal ties among the adolescents of Nigeria and the advancement of national solidarity".

As a growing nation, Nigeria is further tormented by the issues of destitution. mass absence of education, intense lack of high talented labor (combined with most uneven appropriation of the gifted individuals that are accessible), woefully insufficient financial infrastructural offices, lodging. Water and sewage offices, street, social insurance administrations, and successful correspondence . Confronted with these practically unmanageable issues, which were further aggravated by the weight of reproduction after the common war, the legislature and individuals of Nigeria set for the nation, crisp objectives, and targets went for building up Nigeria as:
(a) a unified, solid and independent country:
(b) an incredible and great economy;
(c) a place where there is brilliant and full open doors for all nationals; and
(d) a free and law based society.
It is a society in Nigeria, that once an understudy moves on from the University or a polytechnic, with a degree or National Higher Diploma, (HND), he or she is sent to a state in Nigeria to serve the Nation.
'Young people comply with the clarion call, let us lift our country high, under the sun and in the downpour, with devotion and magnanimity, Nigeria our own, Nigeria, we Serve.'
The above is the National Anthem of each Youth corp part in Nigeria. Furthermore, for a long time, it has sounded beyond any doubt and genuine. The NYSC Scheme has 3 parts, the 3 weeks of introduction outdoors, the Community Development Services (done once every week), and The Place of Primary Assignments, (where every corp part is presented on after the introduction camp and where he is to serve for one year).
NYSC has not been without its good and bad times, with stories of killings and snatchings of Corp Members all over the place, each state. Be that as it may, great things are dependably met with resistance.
One can say the scheme has been a success story in Nigeria because, through it, there have been inter tribal marriages and marriage is a factor that binds people together. The NYSC scheme has brought people from various parts of Nigeria together, as they now see themselves as one.
Beyond this however, some people from the southern part of Nigeria, complain that the oil sector in Nigeria, is being dominated by those from western Nigeria, since they are always posted to serve in the south. This has made Some states in South south Nigeria, to insist that corps members posted to South south Nigeria, be made to serve as teachers in the various states of south south Nigeria. One can say that the scheme has caused rancour and acrimony among the various states.
The question now is, should the scheme be scrapped or not? we hear rumours of the plans of Nigeria's Federal Government to scrap the scheme. But just yesterday, the Federal Government came out to say there are no plans to scrap the NYSC scheme.
But as in your opinion, do you think the NYSC scheme should be scrapped? Give your reasons.
