GOVERNOR IKPEAZU REACTS AGAIN

Abia governorship: Ikpeazu restates that he is still the state governor and condemned INEC's issuance of Certificate of return to Uche Ogah

Today,  INEC issued  certificate of return to PDP candidate ,Uche Ogah, after a request by the Abuja Federal High Court on Monday June 27th, ordered the appointive body to quickly issue Certificate of Return to Ogah who came next at the PDP primaries in the state in 2014. The state governor, Okezie Ikpeazu has issued an announcement responding to the issue.  According to him, he remains the Governor of the state since he has documented a request against the decision.

The following is  his statement.

I have gotten with concern, report of the  issuance of Certificate of Return to Mr. Uche Ogah by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as governor  of Abia State, regardless of a notification of advance and movement for stay of the requests made by Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Abuja.

Our laws are sure about this matter. Nobody might be issued with a testament of return not to mention confirmation as a governor, when there is a subsisting request and application for sit tight.

I need to speak to Abians to keep their cool  until the litigant courts have definitively resolved the advance, the status remains, I am still the Governor of Abia State.

Dr Okezie Ikpeazu

Governor, Abia State
