Abia Governorship Crisis: Ikpeazu Dares INEC, Says 'I'm still in charge.
Abia State senator, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, on Thursday, June 30, 2016 challenged the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on the issuance of an endorsement of come back to Mr. Uche Ogah, in spite of a notification of advance and movement for stay of the requests made by Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Abuja.
Ikpeazu in an announcement told his supporters and the general population of Abia State to try to avoid panicking on the grounds that he remained the state governor.
"I have gotten with concern, the report of the implied issuance of Certificate of Return to Mr. Uche Ogah by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as head of Abia State, in spite of reliance of a notification of advance and movement for stay of the requests made by Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Abuja," Ikpeazu said.
"Our laws are sure about this matter. Nobody might be issued with an endorsement of return not to mention be confirmed as representative, when there is a subsisting offer and application for sit tight.
"I need to speak to Abians to stay cool and well behaved even with this incitement, unless and until the litigant courts have definitively resolved the bid, the status remains, I am still the Governor of Abia State."
