His full name was Stephen Okechukwu Chinedu Keshi.
He was conceived on January 23, 1962.
He hails from Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State.
He played as a safeguard for Super Eagles of Nigerian and a few football clubs.
Aside from the Nigerian national group, Keshi honed the Togolese and Malian national groups.
He is the main mentor to have taken the Togolese group to the World cup title till date.
The main football club he ever played for in Nigeria was ACB Football Club, before joining New Nigeria Bank, Stade d'Abidjan, Africa Sports, Lokeren, Anderlecht, RC Strasbourg among different clubs.
From 1981 to 1995 when he quit playing global football for Nigeria, Keshi showed up 64 times in the Eagles shading and scored an aggregate of nine goals.
He served as head mentor for the Junior Eagles at the 2001 African Youth Championship.
He communicated in French and English easily.
Keshi was one of the main two soccer stars, alongside Egypt's Mahmoud El-Gohary, to have won the Africa Cup of Nations both as a player and a mentor.
He won the African Nations Cup in 1994 as a skipper and as a mentor in 2013.
His Wife of 33 years, Kate passed on December 9, 2015 in the wake of losing a long fight with malignancy.
Keshi is made due by four kids and his mom.
